How To Make Seafood Boil Using GasOne Propane Burner with Steamer Pot
After acquiring the GasOne Burner-and-Pot combo, we tried cooking various food items. We started with fried turkey, moved on to making stock, and even brewed some beer. We also made a delicious seafood boil – and the result was heavenly.
Here’s how you can make some boil using the GasOne burner with the steamer –
Ingredients:
- Medium crabs – 4-6
- Shrimp – 1 lb
- Mussels/clams – 1 lb
- Sweet corn cob – 2-3 (each cut into small pieces)
- Baby potatoes – 1 lb
- Garlic – 2 heads (peeled and minced)
- Vegetable oil – 4 oz.
- Cajun seasoning – 4-4.5 oz.
- Sugar – 1 tbsp
- Butter – 0.5 lb
- Lemon – 2
- Salt – To taste
Instructions:
Step 1
Place the crabs and shrimps in a large bowl and cover with a wet cloth. Put the bowl in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.
Step 2
Fill three-quarters of the stockpot with water and set it on high heat.
Step 3
Wash, cut, and prep your vegetables.
Step 4
Bring out the cold seafood. Wash and scrub the shellfish.
Step 5
Peel off the triangular cap on the backside of the crabs. Remove the beard from the mussels and clams and cut off the legs and tentacles of the shrimps.
Step 6
Place the strainer basket into the pot with boiling water.
Step 7
Put the potatoes into the pot and cook for 5 minutes.
Step 8
Add corn and the cleaned seafood.
Step 9
Cut one lemon into 4 wedges and add them to the pot with 1-2 tbsp of salt.
Step 10
Cover the pot and cook for 3-5 minutes until the shellfish become red and the potatoes turn soft.
Step 11
Lift the strainer basket to remove the cooked seafood and veggies.
Step 12
Store a cup of the stock – and remove the rest from the pot.
Step 13
In the empty pot, put oil and butter on reduced heat. Add minced garlic.
Step 14
Cook until the garlic becomes fragrant, but don’t let it brown.
Step 15
Add the juice of one lemon and the reserved stock into the pot, along with sugar and Cajun seasoning. Stir.
Step 16
Add the cooked seafood and veggies back into the pot and stir. Check the seasoning. Add salt, if needed.
Step 17
Cook for another couple of minutes before turning off the heat.
You can make your own Cajun spice mix. Or, if you feel lazy, try a few shortcuts, as shown in the below video.
