Waste King L-1001 Garbage Disposal With Power Cord: Features & Benefits

While the Waste King L-1001 Garbage Disposal is relatively affordable, it’s not the cheapest garbage disposal on the market. Therefore, it’s necessary to know the primary features that make it better than other models.

Following are some of the key features that help Waste King L-1001 Garbage Disposal to clear your waste without blocking your sink pipe. Let’s have a look-

Compact Design

The Waste King L-1001 has a compact design with dimensions of 6.4 x 6.4 x 13.4. This garbage disposal won’t consume much space, so it’s best for households who want other usages from the under-sink area.

Waste King L-1001 weighs only 15 pounds, making it easier to install. If you ever plan to change your sink area, you will be able to install it without needing another helping hand.

Easy To Install

Installing the Waste King L-1001 is really easy. The machine’s EZ Mount Installation system gives a very smooth installation experience. You can easily mount it under the sink by giving it a few twists. But make sure to tighten it as it may get loose over time due to the vibration.

Waste King L-1001 already comes with a power cord, so you don’t have to buy a new one. But check if you need new piping under the sink to fit this unit.

Also, note that the cord isn’t hard-wired. If you prefer it that way, you’ll have to do the alteration yourself. Moreover, it has a removable splash guard that makes removing and cleaning the disposal easier.

Accidents like dropping my ring in the sink or other useful items are very common with me. The removable splash guard makes retrieving these items easier.

It also has a plug to connect to the dishwasher. It’s up to you whether you want to connect it with the dishwasher or not.

Powerful Motor for Better Cleaning

If you are like me and mindlessly throw food in your kitchen sink, the Waste King L-1001 will work as a savior. Due to this habit, my wastewater pipe got blocked very often. Honestly, cleaning the waste pipe is a disgusting sight, so I needed to get a garbage disposal with a powerful motor.

The Waste King L-1001 didn’t disappoint me. Its ½ Horsepower and 2600 RPM motor speed grinds food scraps into very tiny particles that can easily pass through the pipe.

The magnet motor and galvanized steel grind ring make Waste King L-1001’s food disposal system better than most other electric garbage disposals in the same range.

Waste King L-1001 also has a manual reset button. It’s a safety feature using which you can shut off the motor in case of a rare jam or overload.

But note that this unit is best for a single person or for a couple. It is for mild use, and the grinder takes longer to finish the job. So if you have a big family, I won’t recommend the Waste King L-1001 because it can’t hold large batches of garbage at once.

Excellent Build-Quality, So It Lasts Longer

For under a $100 garbage disposal, I think Waste King L-1001 has great built quality. The machine is durable enough to last for years. It has a stainless steel body, and the grinding chamber is made from rust and corrosion-free metal.

Additionally, the manufacturers provide a two-year warranty; so any malfunction during this period will be taken care of by the company. I would suggest you wipe it with a wet tissue once in a while to keep it sleek and shiny.

But the rubber gasket that holds the disposal tends to loosen up with time, so you should consider keeping a spare piece.

Less Noisy, Therefore No Disturbances

Waste King L-1001 isn’t the quietest garbage disposal, but it’s not very loud. It’s a little noisy but not too much to bother you. I didn’t find it to bother me much while I worked in the kitchen.

I could also listen clearly when my sister was talking to me from the dining room at her usual volume. But the noise level may vary depending on the type of sink you have. It may be loud with sinks that cannot handle the disposal vibration very well.

Waste King L-1001 Garbage Disposal With Power Cord: Should You Buy It?

I would say the Waste King L-1001 is a good purchase for a single-person household. It’s been a few months since I installed the kitchen disposal, and it’s working without any error. I ordered the machine online and installed it myself, reading the user manual.

It took me a few trials, but I didn’t feel the need to call a mechanic to install it.

Also, cleaning the disposal is also very easy. My kitchen isn’t very big, so I need the under-sink area for storage.

The Waste King L-1001 only took one-third of the space, and I can use the remaining space to store my cleaning items.

Although the grinder is a bit slow, it does not bother me mainly because I live alone.

But this garbage disposal isn’t efficient enough if you have a family of 4 to 5 people.

Also, this one won’t clear up chicken bones, so be careful not to throw them in the sink. I made a mistake hence warning you beforehand.

Again if you need a disposal that grinds very fast, you’ll not be very satisfied with this machine. So consider that as well.
