Do you have limited kitchen space that’s forcing you to refrain from installing a garbage disposal unit? Then, I have a solution for you – the InSinkErator Evolution Compact Garbage Disposer is engineered to fit easily into any sink cabinet!

InSinkErator’s Evolution Compact is a continuous feed garbage disposer – known to pack massive power in a compact size. It is designed to make waste disposal simple and hygienic – without occupying much kitchen space.

What’s special about this garbage disposer? Is it easy to use and worth your money? Find out more about this product in my Insinkerator Evolution Compact review.

InSinkErator Evolution Compact 3/4 HP Garbage Disposer: Noteworthy Features

The Evolution Compact garbage disposal system by InSinkErator is designed to serve the needs of a standard residence. But what makes this device a particularly appropriate choice for any home is its small size.

I also love that it stands out among other garbage disposers. That’s because it can handle a wider range of peels and foods that may be quite hard, stringy, or soft.

Besides, it’s known for its low noise levels compared to many other disposers. And if you care about how your under-sink area looks, it’s a good unit.

Here’s everything I loved about this disposal unit –

a) Compact Size Makes it Ideal for Every Kitchen

This Insinkerator garbage disposer has a dimension of  8” x 8” x 12.13”. Consequently, it is a small device that you can use even if you have a small kitchen with limited space.

Here’s a quick tip if you don’t want to lose the entire shelf in your cabinet to make space for the unit. Hire a carpenter to cut it along the line of the disposal system and restore it!

b) Impressively Durable Unit

The device quality, with the long-lasting Dura-Drive Motor, is unparalleled, which isn’t surprising. After all, it comes from the world’s largest garbage disposer manufacturer.

Its body is made of durable galvanized steel. Also, the grind components, made of alloy stainless steel, won’t get tarnished or damaged easily, no matter what you feed it.

c) Quieter Than Most Disposers

The Evolution Compact has InSinkErator’s Sound-Seal Technology and anti-vibration design. As a result, the unit is quieter than most, even while grinding hard materials.

Interestingly, its decibel level is not strikingly low compared to other disposers. But it’s not shrill, and the sound is at a lower pitch – making it quieter and more pleasant.

d) Powerful Grinding

The unit has a strong Dura-Drive Induction Motor with 3/4 HP which has a similarly powerful effect to the Moen GXS75C Host Series 3/4 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal.

Also, it has 2-Stage Multigrind Technology and strong grinders for repeated grinding to turn waste to mush.

So, it offers great grind force and breaks down food.

Most disposers handle wastes that aren’t too soft or hard. But this disposer tackles bones, rind, rice, etc., to prevent clogs.

e) Easy to Install

If you already have an InSinkErator installed, you can easily swap the old one for the Evolution Compact. You just have to rotate off the old one to screw on the new unit.

If it’s the first disposer, installation should be fairly easy. And if you are uncomfortable around tools, any handyman will know how to install this InSinkErator disposal system.

f) Safe Design to Prevent Accidents

The mouth of the garbage disposer, where it’s connected to the sink, has a baffle with little flaps. So, it ensures that your hands don’t go beyond the upper part of the channel.

Thus, there’s no question of your hands reaching down to the grinders. Also, the grind components do not have sharp blades that can pose any danger during installation.

Is the InSinkErator Evolution Compact Garbage Disposer Worth the Price?

What I love about the Evolution Compact is its size. It fits seamlessly in small homes with limited cabinet space. Also, it operates at a low pitch – and its noise level is less noticeable even in small kitchens.

The best feature of this disposer, however, is its 3/4 HP motor, powerful grinding paddles, and double-grinding ability.

As a result, it’s capable of handling most food wastes – rinds, rice, chicken bones, bread, vegetables, and more.

This InSinkErator disposal system can mash up most food items you throw into it.

However, I’d advise not to push its abilities too far by shoving the entire week’s trash can content into this system.

With most disposers, you end up with what I call the Goldilocks situation. So the food you throw down the drain shouldn’t be too hard or too soft – and has to be just right! But the Evolution Compact isn’t as limited, which makes it one of the best disposers.

How Do You Use InSinkErator Evolution Compact Garbage Disposer?

Using InSinkErator’s Evolution Compact Garbage Disposer is extremely easy. But I would advise that you keep the following tips in mind to ensure its long life and prevent odors.

Step 1

First, turn on the faucet and run cold water in the sink and down the disposer’s throat. Cold water will solidify the fat content in food to flush it down easily.

Step 2

Next, press the air button and turn on the Evolution Compact. Allow the device to run for a few seconds.

Step 3

After that, feed in leftovers, chicken bones, disposable parts of fruits or veggies, etc., slowly. But don’t dump everything at once and shove it all down together.

Step 4

Make sure that the faucet is on throughout the process. Keep it running for a few seconds after everything you want to dispose of has disappeared.

Step 5

Finally, turn off the InSinkErator by pressing the air button again – and then turn off the faucet. And you’ll have a squeaky clean kitchen!

Check out the video below to see how it works.

How Do You Clean the InSinkErator Evolution Compact?

While this disposer is a low-maintenance device, you can occasionally take a few cleaning steps. As a result, you’ll see that there’s no clogging and stinking.

    Step 1

Remove the baffle to rinse it for a quick cleanup. You can also clean this removable baffle in the dishwasher.

    Step 2

Use some paper towel to remove any food buildup underneath the lip where the baffle sits. This upper part of the throat is safe for you to wipe.

    Step 3

If you have been noticing odors, then grind some citrus fruits. Running a chopped orange or lemon down the system will neutralize the stench.

    Step 4

If you feel there’s some buildup, you can grind hard substances like pits or bones. They will bounce around to remove all bits and pieces.

    Step 5

You can also use a gentle commercial deodorizer or a homemade mix of baking soda and water to clean and maintain the disposer.

Here’s a video that describes the cleaning process.

      Frequently Asked Questions

How do you turn on InSinkErator Evolution?

You can turn on InSinkErator’s Evolution Compact with an air switch. It needs to be installed on your sink, preferably beside the faucet, at the time of installing the machine.

This switch doesn’t need electricity. But the disposer itself must be electrically powered.

What should you not put down an InSinkErator Evolution disposer?

According to the InSinkErator Evolution Compact manual, you shouldn’t grind large amounts of egg shells, fibrous husks, and leaves in the Evolution.

Also, don’t feed it oyster shells and overly large bones. And, make sure to avoid pouring grease or oil down it!

Can chicken bones go in InSinkErator Evolution Compact disposers?

Small chicken bones are no match for the InSinkErator Evolution Compact’s powerful motor, dual-grind mechanism, and strong grind components.

So the disposer easily eats them up. In fact, the brand suggests grinding chicken bones to remove buildups in the throat.

      Final Words

Clearly, the InSinkErator Evolution Compact Garbage Disposer will fit in your small kitchen and tackle various types of waste. And once it’s installed, no one in your home will need to wonder, “Who’s Gonna Take the Garbage Out?”
